Wanderers head to Wrexham for the second time in quick succession – but Steven Schumacher expects a rather different contest in the league.

Andy Cannon scored the only goal as the Whites exited the Vertu Trophy a fortnight ago despite a decent performance on the road.

The league is all that is left for both clubs now, with Wrexham battling to break into the top two while Bolton look to get back in the play-off places.

“It is going to be a completely different game,” said Schumacher. “I think what it's given me though is a really good idea, I had watched Wrexham’s games before we played them, what they're all about and how they're going to go about the game.

“Since we played them, we have had Hughesy (Mark Hughes, assistant manager) and Harry (Taylor, analyst) go and watch them against Leighton Orient.

“I watched them against Mansfield on Sunday, I watched them on the telly the other night, so it feels like I've seen a lot of Wrexham over the last four weeks!

“We know what's coming, we know that we're going to be up against a really tough opponent. They’ve got incredibly talented players with a manager who is extremely experienced, so we have to make sure that we're ready for it.”

Phil Parkinson made eight changes in midweek as Wrexham were beaten by Peterborough on penalties in the Vertu Trophy semi-final.

The Red Dragons let a 2-0 lead slip at the Racecourse Ground as they missed out on a Wembley final against Birmingham.

“Their squad is so big that when I saw their teamsheet and when I watched the game, it's probably highly likely they will make nine, 10 changes, whatever,” Schumacher added.

“As you would expect with Phil's teams, whatever team comes in and plays, they're going to be incredibly well organised and have really good players, that's what they are blessed with in their squad.

“They don't change too much from their system of what they do. They are really good at how they play and how they work, so we won't take too much from that game midweek but we know what to expect from Wrexham.”
